Becoming a SENte CentreWhat commitments would we be making? As a SENte Centre, you would start by training colleagues within your own school. Following this, you would be expected to provide training for staff in other local schools. The training package has modules that are relevant to all schools from KS1 to KS4 and for pupils working at ‘P’ levels upwards. The start-up cost is £3000+VAT for a highly-subsidised site licence to the software and support material for all your staff (the normal cost is £4000+VAT). For training your own staff, you would receive a subsidy from Pearson Information of £75 per person (up to a maximum of ten people). This could reduce your initial outlay to just £2250+VAT. Pearson Information will assist you in marketing and then delivering the course to your local schools. For every learner from another school that you train, you would receive an additional £75 payment from Pearson Information. Any SENte Centre that provides training for 20 colleagues from other schools in a given year also receives a £250 bonus. How much income might we receive? The aim is for you to train a total of at least 20 staff from other schools in your first year. This would bring in 20 x £75 = £1500 (£1750 including the bonus). It is suggested that cohorts of 10-15 learners are trained. Were you to train three cohorts of ten learners in each subsequent year, you would generate approximately £2500 per year. Who pays for the courses? When SENte Centres provide courses to staff from other schools, the standard price paid by each school is £200+VAT per person. Pearson Information invoices trainees on behalf of the SENte Centre. This cost covers resources (software to use with SEN pupils and support material provided by Pearson Information) and the equivalent of ten hours’ training (provided by the SENte Centre). What equipment do we need?SENte Centres need:
